Christian Education

At Henderson Presbyterian Church, we believe that Christian Education is central to the growth of our congregation, both spiritually and physically. To that end, we offer a variety of opportunities to learn and grow in faith and service to God.

Nursery – 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM services

The nursery is open to children age four and younger. We provide a nurturing environment to plant the seeds of a Christian life.

Sunday School

Sunday School is held every Sunday morning from September through May for children age 4 through 4th grade, and Younger youth grades 5 through 8 Sunday School is held between church services—9:30 AM to 10:20 AM

We Believe

The curriculum for the children’s lessons, We Believe, begins with the Bible and relates to the message of Jesus Christ. The curriculum encourages biblical literacy at all age levels. The goal of the spring quarter is to highlight the Christian life through studying prayer and worship. It focuses on the Holy Spirit’s role in the lives of the people of the New Testament as they try to abide by God’s word. Children are also encouraged to learn how God’s word applies to their own lives.

I Know My Bible

This study is designed to help younger youth learn more about the Bible and see how the Bible flows from book to book. Students are encouraged to read God’s word and apply it to their daily living.

The children take part in a yearly Christmas Pageant. This year’s pageant was the traditional story of our Savior’s birth, entwined with the story of the Little Drummer Boy. The Congregation interacted with the play by singing traditional Christmas carols.

Confirmation classes are held each year for children 6th grade and older wishing to join our church.

Vacation Bible School

All area children are welcome to attend this weeklong event. This year’s theme is Lava Island, Where Jesus’ Love Flows. Children learn about Jesus’ life and are challenged daily to apply what they’ve learned. Imagine the possibilities as Jesus’ love flows from each child to a family member, to a friend, and on! VBS is held one week each summer please contact the church office if you would like more information.

Youth Group

The Youth Group meets on Tuesdays after school. The Youth meet weekly for Bible study and fellowship while doing various fun activities, such as: hiking at Red Rock Canyon, attending a musical at Spring Mountain Ranch, or discussing current events. The youth are challenged to become peacemakers in their neighborhoods and schools. Youth also learn to serve with open hearts through our annual mission trip, youth retreat on Mount Charleston, and Christmas caroling to the elderly and shut-in members of the church. This July our youth will again be led to service in Mexico. All youth in junior and senior high are welcome to attend. Please contact the church office for more information at 702-565-9684.
