Advent at Henderson Presbyterian Church
| Sunday, December 2, 2007 | 11th Annual Saint Andrew’s Service |
Come be with us for Scottish music, themes, dancing, kilts, and food. Relive the times of the Scottish Highlands and the founding of the Presbyterian Church! We will have the Kirkin’ of the Tartan at the 10:30 a.m. service, where the colors are presented. Words of the season that might have been spoken in a Scottish Kirk (church) will be spoken, and fun will be had by all. Edgar Clanahan will lead us in a song or two. Don’t miss this day and bring your friends! Come and hear the pipes! Today, everybody is Scottish.
| Sunday, December 9, 2007 | The Annual Chrismon service |
The congregation helps decorate and listens to the stories of the symbols for our Jesse Trees. Hear of the origins of so many of our beautiful Christmas symbols and carry them forth when they are called. Hope to see you on a day of great beauty.
| Sunday, December 16, 2007 | The Annual Children’s Pageant |
Come be with us and see and hear the Christmas story through the eyes of babes. The little ones work hard to bring this to you and so do their teachers! You never know when you might be touched and changed by the ways of a child.
| Sunday, December 23, 2007 | Communion |
A service of word, music and song, come and hear about Christmas around the world and in our hearts. Communion will be offered and this is also the Christmas Joy Offering. What better way to celebrate the 4th Sunday in Advent than together with fellow Christians in church?
| Monday, December 24, 2007 | CHRISTMAS Eve Service |
A service of beautiful music, the spoken word, and communion, this is a Candlelight Service on the most holy of nights.

You can also mail payment for your plant to the church at: P.O. Box 91346 Henderson, NV 89009.
Thank You, Thank You!!
Once again Henderson Presbyterian Church reached out to the community with love to ensure that others would have a blessed Thanksgiving. This is always a big undertaking and all who contributed in different ways made it possible for the Deacons to carry on this ministry in your name. Over 100 Thanksgiving baskets were distributed.

Angels Sighted At HPC
Again this year, the branches of a very special Christmas tree in our sanctuary will be adorned with "angels." On each paper angel will be written the name and age of a neighborhood child whose parents will need our help to make sure that Santa arrives on time this year. Each person will have listed his or her most-hoped-for toy, book, game, or other article, and Mom or Dad will have listed an article of clothing and size that each child might need. Your part is simple: you select an angel from the tree. You’ll then have time to purchase a gift for your special new friend. You can go together with another family or a friend; you can buy either a toy or an article of clothing, or both. The important thing is to have fun and to feel good about sharing the joy of Christmas.
Your gifts should be wrapped and tagged (you can use the same angel that you took off the tree) and returned to the tree in the sanctuary no later than Sunday, December 16th. With your help, our Angel Tree can be a very special expression of God’s love this Christmas.
Per Capita 2008 = $31.00

HPC CELEBRATES 50 WONDERFUL YEARS of Growing to Serve…Beyond!
Henderson Presbyterian Church was overflowing as friends and family gathered to celebrate our 50th Anniversary on November 4, 2007. The event began with the presentation of the colors by representatives from Boy Scout troops. Following the presentation of colors, the worship service, under direction of the Reverend Ross Doyel, began. We were honored to hear messages of love, strength, and commitment from Elder Sally Hinchman, Presbytery Executive; Reverend Bill Kirkman, former HPC Pastor; Pastor Carl Swenberg, Police Chaplain; Reverend Hilda Pecoraro, Parish Associate; Lee Styer, Seminary Intern. Letters and proclamations were received from US Congressman Jon Porter, Henderson Mayor James Gibson, and US Senator Harry Reid. We were also lucky to have in attendance one of our charter members, Mr. Harold Winall, and one of our most mature members, Mrs. Lucille Salter. Thanks to God were further expressed through a beautiful Anthem of Praise written by Jay Neal and performed by Jay and Cindy Neal. Following the worship service, Zep Sylvis presented a power point of pictures and remembrances from years gone by. Zep worked for over a year collecting and creating this wonderful presentation. The morning ended with refreshments (more like a full meal!) prepared and served by the committee. Many, many thanks go out to all the committee members who spent hours and hours of time in the planning and preparation of this wonderful event. If you are interested in a DVD of Zep’s presentation, please contact the office. DVDs can be purchased for a very nominal fee.
