Advent! The Coming of Christ!

Sunday, December 3, 2006 10th Annual Saint Andrew’s Service

Come be with us for the tartan, the pipes, the singing, and the blessings. Everyone is Scottish on this day!! If you have a clan color, be sure and wear it or bring a swatch. Scottish food will be served on this first Sunday in Advent as the Kirk celebrates a highland Christmas. Be transported to the high road with the singing of Mr. Edgar Clanahan!

Sunday, December 10, 2006 Decorating the Chrismon Tree

The church will again celebrate the decorating of the Chrismon Tree. Everyone in the congregation will have a chance to place a decoration on the trees as the inner meaning of the Chrismon symbols will be told. This is a beautiful service for young and old and the church hopes to see you there.

Sunday, December 17, 2006 The Annual Children’s Pageant

Mark your calendar for this glorious service where we can all see Christmas with childlike eyes. They work so hard, their teachers even harder, so come and be young at heart again. Remember, you were young once!

        Sunday, December 24, 2006 Communion

Worship services at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 7:00 p.m. Communion will be served at all services. This is also the day of the Christmas Joy Offering and a special treat by our church choirs. The Christmas Eve service will be different from the morning services.

Monday, December 25, 2006 Merry CHRISTMAS To ALL!

          Sunday, December 31, 2006

Preacher Doyel will preach about "something." He doesn’t know what—but it will be something!

DEACONS’ NEWS

Thank You, Thank You!!

The Board of Deacons wishes to express its gratitude in the response of all members and friends who provided the ingredients for the Thanksgiving Baskets Project. Once again Henderson Presbyterian Church reached out to the community with love to ensure that others would have a blessed Thanksgiving. This is always a big undertaking and all who contributed in different ways made it possible for the Deacons to carry on this ministry in your name. Over 100 Thanksgiving baskets were distributed.

A Poem from Me

to All of You

When my wife passed away I was feeling down

All of you like a family gathered around

You gave me your prayers and your love

And the support I got from you and the Lord Above

Helped me make it day by day

And now I would like to say

Without friend and family like you

I don’t know what I would do

So I say to each and every one of you

Thank you and may the Lord always

Be with you.

Angels Sighted At HPC

Again this year, the branches of a very special Christmas tree in our sanctuary will be adorned with "angels." On each paper angel will be written the name and age of a neighborhood child whose parents will need our help to make sure that Santa arrives on time this year. Each person will have listed his or her most-hoped-for toy, book, game, or other article, and Mom or Dad will have listed an article of clothing and size that each child might need. Your part is simple: you select an angel from the tree. You’ll then have time to purchase a gift for your special new friend. You can go together with another family or a friend; you can buy either a toy or an article of clothing, or both. The important thing is to have fun and to feel good about sharing the joy of Christmas. Your gifts should be wrapped and tagged (you can use the same angel that you took off the tree) and returned to the tree in the sanctuary no later than Sunday, December 17th. The children’s parents will be asked to pick up the gifts on Tuesday, December 19th at the church. With your help, our Angel Tree can be a very special expression of God’s love this Christmas.
