DEACONS’ NEWS

Thank You, Thank You!!

The Board of Deacons wishes to express its gratitude in the response of all members and friends who provided the ingredients for the Thanksgiving Baskets Project. Once again Henderson Presbyterian Church reached out to the community with love to ensure that others would have a blessed Thanksgiving. This is always a big undertaking and all who contributed in different ways made it possible for the Deacons to carry on this ministry in your name. Over 120 Thanksgiving baskets were distributed.

The Board of Deacons wants to wish all of the families and friends of Henderson Presbyterian Church a very blessed Christmas. May the New Year 2006 continue to be a blessing to us as God’s children. May we be a blessing to others by giving them love, hope, joy, and peace!

Angels Sighted At HPC

Again this year, the branches of a very special Christmas tree in our sanctuary will be adorned with "angels." On each paper angel will be written the name and age of a neighborhood child whose parents will need our help to make sure that Santa arrives on time this year, or for a local Senior who might be in need of some special attention. Each person will have listed his or her most-hoped-for toy, book, game, or other article, and Mom or Dad will have listed an article of clothing and size that each child might need. Your part is simple: you select an angel from the tree. You’ll then have two weeks to purchase a gift for your special new friend. You can go together with another family or a friend; you can buy either a toy or an article of clothing, or both. The important thing is to have fun and to feel good about sharing the joy of Christmas. Your gifts should be wrapped and tagged (you can use the same angel that you took off the tree) and returned to the tree in the sanctuary no later than Sunday, December 18th. The children’s parents will be asked to pick up the gifts on Sunday, December 18th at the church. With your help, our Angel Tree can be a very special expression of God’s love this Christmas.

To Whom It May Concern:

This year marks our tenth year of service to the Henderson community. Thanks to donations such as yours, SAFE House has been able to help victims of domestic violence by providing life saving services.

As you can imagine ten years has taken a toll on the 54-bed shelter and this year we were able to make some much-needed updates to our shelter, thanks in part to your contribution.

This year we partnered with Leadership Henderson Class of 2005, to ensure that those being battered have a safe, secure, and comfortable place to stay. SAFE House is pleased that Leadership Henderson launched their "Operation HOME Suite HOME" program.

The Henderson Presbyterian Church’s donation of 75 chairs was able to assist Leadership Henderson with the make over of eight suites. The chairs have provided new seating for the dining facility, and additional seating for meetings held at our American Pacific location. In addition, members of the Henderson Presbyterian Church have donated several bags of clothing and other badly needed items.

By assisting in this program, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you have provided assistance to hundreds of families who were in dire need of a safe haven and a warm bed. You are indeed a friend in our community!

Thank you for helping SAFE House and Leadership Henderson’s Operation Home Suite Home become a success.

Sincerely,

Chris Holman
