November—A Season for "Thanksgiving"

The congregation will gather for the All Saints Communion when the Life Triumphant and our Eternal Abode will be lifted up. Be there and remember the loved ones who have passed to the Choir Triumphant.
Sunday, November 12, 2006
Preacher Doyel will hold forth upon "something." This is also Stewardship Sunday, so if everybody comes with many, many hundred dollar bills, great jewelry, and the family silver, you may just squeak by and only get the "something." PS. Here’s a hint—the day before is Veteran’s Day.
Then Preacher Doyel and wife will be gone for the good portion of two weeks as we travel to Louisville, Kentucky, the headquarters of the Presbyterian Church USA. There, I will undergo almost a week of training to be the Moderator of our Nevada Presbytery. (Guess it is to round off my rough edges and corners, and convince me to leave my baseball bat at the house and settle disputes in a more dignified manner.)

Our own Elder Jim LaVeck!! You won’t want to miss this one! This is also the Thanksgiving Basket Sunday. Please pay attention to the list of needed food items in your Sunday bulletins and in this newsletter. Remember, you can donate to this huge and important effort by the Deacons simply by writing a check, if you can, and marking it for "Deacons’ Thanksgiving" or "Baskets
."Sunday, November 26, 2006
Preacher Doyel will preach on the holidays of the church year and why they are, where they are, and what they are! Then, be sure to stay and decorate the church for Advent and Christmas.
