Yes Class, I mean Congregation, Preacher Doyel is sending you to school again this September and October to increase your Bible studies.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2007                                   COMMUNION SUNDAY

Preacher Doyel will start your studies upon the Gospel according to Matthew, chapters 5, 6, and 7. Yes Class, we are going to take a look at the Beatitudes. Your assignment is to read the chapters. Don’t forget, communion is also served this Lord’s Day as we labor to increase our light unto the world.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2007

Preacher Doyel will continue to belabor upon the Beatitudes.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2007

Our own excellent elder, Mr. Ken Meats, will hold forth from the pulpit while Doyel’s travel to Elko, Nevada for Presbytery meetings. Joining your pastor and his young bride will be Jim and Carolyn LaVeck, Anne Mack, Barbara Sylvis, and on Tuesday, Ken Meats. Pray, if you will, for our safe travel and for the Presbytery of Nevada. This will be my last meeting as Moderator and I will then, for the coming year, assume the Chair of Executive Council, which means I am sort of the chair of all the chairs of our Presbytery Committees. For instance, Jim LaVeck serves on the Preparation for Ministry committee, Anne Mack on the Committee for Ministry, Barbara Sylvis as Chair of Presbytery Nominations, and Ken Meats as a voting delegate.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2007

As many of the above people as possible will give you a brief overview of their work and impression of our Presbytery at work. Preacher Doyel will give a preview of what he will be doing for the coming year.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2007

Our own wonderful seminary intern, Lee Styer, will preach one of his always excellent sermons. Come be with him and support him.

COMING SOON!!
DAYTIMERS

Annual Fall Sale

The Daytimers’ Annual Fall Sale will be held next month—

If you have some cleaning to do, PLEASE remember the Daytimers. If you have room to box some things you’d like to donate and keep them for a few more weeks, that would be great! (Due to a lack of space and very stringent fire regulations, we cannot store items at the church! Sorry!) It would be very helpful if you could bring your items to the church as soon as the Daytimers are ready for them. Then stay here at church and work with the Daytimers’ group in helping to set things up. This is a VERY BIG job, and they need all of us to help all week long!!

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS

Twenty children in grades K through 5 took part in Bible School, Monday, July 23 through Friday, July 27. Avalanche Ranch took us all on a wild ride through God’s word. Students lived up to Daily Challenges and learned that God is always with us—no matter what!. Many thanks to all those who gave of their time, talents, and gifts to make our week the best Bible School yet!!!

Thanks to everyone who donated food and supplies for Bible School. We used them all, and had a great time doing so!!

SUNDAY SCHOOL for grades pre-K and up will resume on September 3rd. Classes for grades K and up are from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM. Grades K through 5 meet in the first floor Sunday school room, and grades 6 and up meet in the Library. The children in Pre-K will meet in the nursery during the 10:30 church service. Denis Pecoraro is engaged in a very worthy task. Denis sends out weekly e-mail messages to anyone who gives his/her e-mail address to him. Included in the messages are prayer requests, information on upcoming events, information about the "workings" of the church body, and special notices. If you would like to start receiving these email messages and learning more about your church, give Denis a call at 612-5164 or shoot him an e-mail to

Special Funds Offer Another Opportunity to Help!

As many of you have noticed, our church building has experienced a facelift! So many improvements have been made that make our church a safer and more appealing home. We could still use your help in paying for all the improvements. We also have a sign fund that will help to pay for signs on the property. If you can support either one of these funds, just write "Sign Fund" or "Improvement Fund" on your check and place it in the offering or mail it to Henderson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 91346 Henderson, NV 89009. Thanks!

Those Whacky Church Bulletins!!

These sentences actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services…

"The Fasting and Prayer Conference" includes meals.

Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.

Miss Charlene Mason sang, "I Will Not Pass This Way Again," giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.
