September, Back to School!

Yes, every year Preacher Doyel holds Bible Study for the congregation. As threatened last year, if "we" made it through another year, the wonderful first book of the Bible, Genesis, would be the subject. Last fall, the class made it through to Abraham, Father of Three Faiths: Judaism, Islam, and Christianity! Start now with Chapter 12, where you pupils finished last time, and read to the end of Genesis. The sermons will especially emphasize Jacob and Joseph, so you need to read up on these Patriarchs! How else are you going to understand the lesson for next fall—EXODUS! You cannot understand what is going on in your world TODAY if you do not at least have a glimpse of what is in these first books of the Bible.

However, there are moments that are not so dull this month of class—Communion, on Sunday September 4th AND Reverend Carl Swenberg on Sunday, September 18th! What do you think of that?!!

During the week of September 18th, the Presbytery of Nevada will be meeting in Bishop, California. Besides your preacher and elected representatives, YOU ALSO are invited. See you for the week in Bishop, California.

P.S. Remember the PEACEMAKING OFFERING is SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2005!

COMING SOON!!

DAYTIMERS

Annual Fall Sale

Mark the dates! The Daytimers’ Annual Fall Sale will be held next month—

October 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th.

If you have some cleaning to do, PLEASE remember the Daytimers. If you have room to box some things you’d like to donate and keep them for a few more weeks, that would be great! (Due to a lack of space and very stringent fire regulations, we cannot store items at the church! Sorry!) It would be very helpful if you could bring your items to the church as soon as the Daytimers are ready for them. Then stay here at church and work with the Daytimers’ group in helping to set things up. This is their project but it is a VERY BIG job, and they need all of us to help!!

So, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, LET’S ALL SHOW UP AT LEAST ONE DAY AND STAY TO HELP FOR AT LEAST ONE HOUR!!

(Of course, you can stay longer if you have time!)

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS

Hippos and lions and giraffes…Oh my!

Twenty three children in grades K through 5 took part in Bible School, Monday, July 25th through Friday, July 29th. Serengeti Trek showed us all how to be Wild About GOD!!. Students lived up to Daily Challenges and shared how to know God, talk to God, tell about God, love God, and work for God. Many thanks to all the giving souls who took charge to make our week the best Bible School yet!!!

Thanks to everyone who donated cans, paper rolls, and many other items to use in our Bible School crafts. We used them all, and had a great time doing so!!

SUNDAY SCHOOL for grades K and up will resume on September 4th. Classes are from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM. Grades K through 4 meet in the first floor Sunday School room, and grades 5 and up meet in the Library. Please come and explore God’s love with us!

Everyone of any age is welcome!

As many of you have noticed, our church building is in need of a little repair. You might too if you worked as hard as her for the past almost 50 years!! The Session has authorized a Renovation Fund to help with improvements. If you can help in any way, please write "FUND" on your check and place it in the offering plate. Thanks!
