CHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS
Don’t miss VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL!! SUNDAY SCHOOL NEEDED!!
Christian Education is still in need of a dynamic leader. You will not be working alone. With the help of God and your Sunday school teachers, you can do this! Please answer the call!
The session is looking for a nursery attendant. Hours are 8:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. every Sunday, at $40.00 per day. Experience working with children, either formally or informally, is essential. You would be responsible for caring for children age 0 to 5 yrs. You might be asked to help with the Sunday School lesson, and are responsible for making sure the toys/supplies are in good working order and that everything is stored neatly each day. Diaper changing may be necessary. This person would be expected to be in the nursery every Sunday, unless absence is arranged ahead of time. If you are interested, please give your resume to the office or a session member.

Please consider the following items the next time you are shopping and would like to contribute to the Food Pantry:
Just look at the foods before you buy them and think about how you would eat them if you had nothing. Could you get the can open? Do you have to cook it before you can eat it? Do you need other ingredients to prepare it? Can you carry it around in extreme heat? If you don’t think you could eat that particular food, because of the way it is packaged or because it can’t be eaten cold, or because it needs other ingredients for preparation, then it probably won’t work for our folks. We thank you for all of your kindness and for all of the wonderful things you have done for our needy. And we hope that you will continue to support our Food Pantry! |

Picnic and Barbecue Food Safety Tips
It’s time to celebrate the 4th of July, and your whole family is ready for an outing. Picnics and barbecues are great activities to enjoy the summer months, but don’t spoil a happy holiday by making people sick! It is not always possible to see, taste, or smell dangerous bacteria that may cause illness if food is mishandled. Bacteria grow and multiply rapidly in the danger zone between 40º F and 140º F. When transporting food and cooking out, it is especially important to pay attention to matters of food safety and keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot. Foods transported without an ice source or left out in the sun will not stay safe for long. If you do eat mishandled foods, you may suffer from flu-like symptoms or even worse caused by food poisoning. Before having a picnic or barbecue, be sure to prepare and store food safely, then pack it properly for traveling. It is important to plan the right amount of food to take. That way, you will not have to worry about the storage or safety of leftovers. Here are 11 picnic and barbecue food safety tips that you should ALWAYS consider.
