Please consider the following items the next time you are shopping and would like to contribute to the Food Pantry:

  • Small cans of fruits and vegetables with pop-top lids
  • Granola or cereal bars
  • Individual boxes of cereal
  • Small cans of milk
  • Juice boxes
  • Small cans of entrees like ravioli, stew, tuna, soups, hash, all with pop-top lids
  • Crackers
  • Peanut butter
  • Cat food or dog food with pop-top lids
  • Bottled water or other beverages
  • Trail mix

Just look at the foods before you buy them and think about how you would eat them if you had nothing. Could you get the can open? Do you have to cook it before you can eat it? Do you need other ingredients to prepare it? Can you carry it around in extreme heat? If you don’t think you could eat that particular food, because of the way it is packaged or because it can’t be eaten cold, or because it needs other ingredients for preparation, then it probably won’t work for our folks. We thank you for all of your kindness and for all of the wonderful things you have done for our needy. And we hope that you will continue to support our Food Pantry!

Special Funds Offer Another Opportunity to Help!

As many of you have noticed, our church building has experienced a facelift! So many improvements have been made that make our church a safer and more appealing home. We could still use your help in paying for all the improvements. We also have a sign fund that will help to pay for signs on the property. If you can support either one of these funds, just write "Sign Fund" or "Improvement Fund" on your check and place it in the offering or mail it to Henderson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 91346 Henderson, NV 89009. Thanks!

August 6th is National Friendship Day!

Considering the valuable role friends polan in our lives, it was deemed fitting to have a day dedicated to friends and friendship. The United States Congress in 1935, proclaimed the first Sunday of August as National Friendship Day. Since then, the ceebration of National Friendship Day becme and annal event.

The nobile idea of honoring the beautiful relationship of friendship caught on with the people and soon Friendship Day became a hugely popluar festival.

Following the popularity and success of Friendship Day in the US, Several other countries adopted the tradition of dedicating a day to friends. Today, Friendship Day is enthusiastically celebrated by several countries across the world.

The Bible reflects upon friendship as the bond that forms the foundation to human faith, trust and companionship. The following verse from the Bible aptly portrays this importance: "Greater love hath no man tha this: that he lay down his life for his friends."

John 15:13-15

"Lean on me, when you're not strong,
and I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on,
for it won't be long,
'til I'm going to need somebody to lean on."

-Bill withers, "Lean On Me"
