Sunday, May 7, 2006 Communion

A time to take a look at the cup. No, not the cup on the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday. No, the cup that Jesus asked to perhaps pass upon in the Garden of Gethsemane. Come be with us for GETHSEMANE.

Sunday, May 14, 2006 Mother’s Day
Yes, it’s that time of year when Reverend Doyel takes a look at the modern American home, the not so modern American home, and the cave man home. Has the male of the species made any progress? These and other comments on the profundity of the modern American scene shall be examined in truth, justice, and the American way!

Sunday, May 21, 2006

An old friend of our church, Reverend Marvin Gantt will be preaching. Reverend Gantt is a minister at Central Christian Church and is well-known to many of our members. Come by and say "hi" to an old friend!

Sunday, May 28, 2006 Memorial Day Weekend

This is Memorial Day weekend, when our church honors those who died, who gave their all so that Americans of all faiths could gather together in freedom, to worship in freedom. There are no jokes this Sunday, just tributes and honors. And REMEMBER, if you have a loved one whose name you wish called, who is a deceased veteran, please let the church office (565-9684) or Reverend Doyel know for the Roll Call of Honor. Wherever you are this weekend, REMEMBER!

~Parson Doyel

Bath Salts

Taken from: www.kidsdomain.com.

The Bath Salts will make a great gift. Keep your eyes open for some unusual jars to use.

This project is rated AVERAGE to do.

What You Need:

  • Large glass or metal mixing bowl
  • 2 cups Epsom's salts
  • 1 cup Sea salt, rock salt, or coarse salt
  • Food coloring
  • 1/4 teaspoon Glycerin
  • Essential oil for fragrance such as vanilla, citrus or peppermint, optional
  • Clean, dry jars with cork stoppers or metal screw-on lid

How To Make It

    1. Try and do this on a day with low humidity, the salt will absorb moisture from the air.
    2. Combine salts in bowl and mix well. Add a couple drops of food coloring and mix well.
    3. Add glycerin and essential oil (4 or 5 drops) and mix well.
    4. Spoon salts into the jars and close them.
    5. Make a gift tag with the scent (if you used one) and suggesting using 1/3 to 1/2 cup in the bath.
    6. Makes 3 cups of bath salts.

Library News

Reading the Words

A cart with Christian fiction will be in the hall outside the library each week. Please help yourself. The bottom two rows of the cart will have books that are to be discarded or sent elsewhere. Please help yourself to any that interest you.

The library organization will be according to subject matter. This is an ongoing project, and well worth a look!
