34 million Americans have Irish ancestry, according to the 2003 US Census. That’s almost nine times the population of Ireland, which has 4.1 million people.

St. Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17^th because that is the feast day of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It is believed that he died on March 17 in the year 461 AD. It is also a worldwide celebration of Irish culture and history. St. Patrick’s Day is a national holiday in Ireland and a provincial holiday in the Canadian provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Session met in quorum in the Fireside Room at Henderson Presbyterian Church. The meeting was opened with prayer at 7:00 p.m. by the Moderator, Rev. Ross Doyel. Active Elders present were Jim LaVeck, Tom Mack, Rick Miller, Becky Sell, and Sandy Willson. Also in attendance were newly elected Elders, Karen Fallon and Ken Meats; Deacon Representatives, Carolyn LaVeck and Diane Holman; and Lee Styers. Fred Cox, Chris Holman, Laura Wagner, and Ellen Walsh were excused.

1. Opening Prayer_ Mission Yearbook: Reverend Doyel opened the meeting with prayer.
2. Deacons Report: Minutes of the November 7, 2006, Deacon’s Meeting were approved as submitted. The following church events were approved by Session:

• Super Bowl Party
• Maundy Thursday Service/Dinner
• Mystery Night
• Ice Cream Social

1. Clerk’s Report: The minutes of the November 7, 2006, meeting were approved. The following correspondence and items of interest were read:

• Albertsons check in the amount of $293.94;
• Letter from Barbara Sylvis, dated January 9, 2007, regarding the rules surrounding the use of the building;
• 2006 Fremont Statement
• December Sierra Scroll.

1. Treasurer’s Report: None.
2. Unfinished Business: :

• Elections were held, and the following individuals will serve as indicated for the next year: Sandy Willson, Clerk; Tom Mack, Nominations; Rick Miller, Building and Operations; Rick Miller, Personnel; Carol Null, Membership; Fred Cox, Stewardship and Finance; Rick Miller, Scouting Representative; Jim LaVeck and Ken Meats, Presbytery Representatives (primary) and Carolyn LaVeck (alternate); Jim LaVeck, Worship Chair; Ken Meats, Worship; Ellen Walsh, Mission; Becky Sell, Christian Education with Laura Wagner serving as the Youth Elder; Rob Bumann, Church Treasurer. Serving as Officers of the Congregation will be Rick Miller, President; Rob Bumann, Treasurer; Sandy Willson, Secretary; and Ken Meats, Trustee. The Session representative to the nominating committee will be Jim LaVeck and Karen Fallon will chair any sexual misconduct proceedings.
• Cell Tower – A motion was passed to stay with the contract for the cell phone tower as it was originally stated.
