Sunday, February 5, 2006 Annual Scout Sunday and Communion

Come be with us to hear our young scouts and what they have to say about Scouting. Be with us for Communion and Support Your Scouts!

Sunday, February 12, 2006

It’s time for you to hear my Greatest Sermon of the Year! Yes, I, your preacher will preach the sermon, "My First Sermon," by the Reverend Doctor Norman Vincent Peale. Once a year your preacher preaches his best sermon of the year BECAUSE it’s someone else’s sermon! Be with the congregation and gain some of the spiritual wisdom of Doctor Norman Vincent Peale!

Sunday, February 19, 2006       Presidents’ Day Weekend

You’ve heard all the talk about religion and politics. What gives? What’s the Constitution say? Where in the world did our political parties come from and is there any hope? What would Jesus have to say about all this? Are our politics a sham to the Lord? What would be the politics of the Divine? Well, let’s take a look in a fallen world if there is anything worth redeeming.

Sunday, February 26, 2006 Transfiguration Sunday

This is the Sunday before Ash Wednesday. Transfiguration Sunday is that day when Jesus was on the mountain top with God and his garments turned dazzling white. Be with the congregation as perhaps we can touch the garments of such a mystery. Perhaps our on lives might be uplifted as we walk up that mountain with Jesus.

~ Parson Doyel

Our church now has three special funds. One is the Church Renovation Fund. This fund has been established by the Session to offset the cost of needed interior and exterior repairs and replacements. If you have questions concerning this fund, contact Building and Operations Chairman Rick Miller, and if you can help, please write "FUND" on your check and place it in the offering plate.

The second newly established fund is the New Sign Fund. This fund has been established to pay for new signage on all corners of the grounds of our church property. Approximately $10,000 will be needed for this project. If you are able to help, please put "SIGN" on your check and place it in the offering plate. For more information on this project please contact Membership Chairman Chris Holman.

The third is the Memorial Windows Fund which is described in the box to the right.

      In Memoriam

On January 8, 2006, Ronald Moore passed away. He was known to be the most caring and loving person to everything and everybody. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

I would like to thank the Daytimers and Deacons for loving cards and food. I would like to thank the Church Congregation for their concern and prayers. Special thanks to Carolyn LaVeck, Judy and Jerry Summers, and a very special thanks to Reverend Doyel and Johnnie who were both there.

I walked out of the funeral home and people were standing around talking. One of them said "That preacher said it all!" And he sure did! He gave a beautiful service. I will always miss and remember my brother, Ron. But I know I’ll see him again some day.

    Thanks,

    Linda Cork

The Greeting Card Association estimates that, world-wide, approximately one billion valentine cards are sent each year, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas. The association also estimates that women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines.

    Can’t You Hear Him?
    By Richard Hobbs

    Listen, can’t your hear Him?
    Listen and you will,
When the breeze blows through the trees
He is talking to you and me.
    And can’t you feel Him?
He is with us day and night
    Keeping us warm and making
    Things right.
    And can’t you see Him?
He is there and all around
In the morning when the sun comes up
    He is there
And as the sun sets in the west
He paints the sky with all his beauty
Just for you and me to see
And then at night as we fall asleep
He is there with our soul he keeps.
